Transforming Communities
OUR MISSION
The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization dedicated to advocating for Black women and girls. Our mission is to promote leadership development and gender equity in health, education, and economic empowerment.
FOCUS AREA
Education
We empower Black women and girls by providing mentorship, scholarships, and academic support. Through these initiatives, we strive to ensure equitable access to quality education and career opportunities, helping to shape future leaders and changemakers in our communities.
Health
We advocate for improved healthcare access, promote overall wellness, and raise awareness of health issues disproportionately affecting Black women and girls. From mental health support to chronic disease prevention, our initiatives empower them to take charge of their well-being and lead healthier lives.
Economic Empowerment
We equip Black women and girls with financial literacy, career development, and business resources to foster economic independence and build generational wealth. Through education, mentorship, and strategic partnerships, we create pathways for financial stability and long-term success.
Public Policy
We advocate for policies that protect and uplift Black women and girls, driving meaningful change through civic engagement, voter education, and legislative action. By amplifying their voices in policy discussions, we work to ensure equity and justice in our communities.

ABOUT US
The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW) was founded in New York City by a group of dedicated African American women committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of Black women and girls in their communities.
The Birmingham Metropolitan Chapter traces its roots back to 1982, originally established as The Jefferson County Chapter by Mrs. Minnie G. Gaston. It was officially incorporated in the State of Alabama in 1989. As one of the original 25 chapters that helped organize the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, our chapter remains steadfast in its mission to empower, uplift, and create opportunities for Black women and girls. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advocacy, leadership development, and community engagement.
OUR COMMUNITY IMPACT
Through our advocacy, programs, and partnerships, we strive to uplift, inspire, and create lasting change for Black women, girls, and the broader community. Our initiatives foster leadership, economic growth, and social progress, ensuring a more equitable future for generations to come.

Gourmet Gents – The Other Half Cooks (Our annual signature fundraising event)
Gourmet Gents is our highly anticipated annual event, bringing together talented men from the community to showcase their culinary skills while supporting a meaningful cause.
Proceeds from this event:
- Support academic scholarships for deserving African American high school girls.
- Fund key advocacy programs in health, education, economic empowerment, and public policy.
Through this signature event, we celebrate culture, community, and philanthropy while making a lasting impact on the lives of Black women and girls.
Mentorship & Education InitIATIVES
We are proud to partner with Glen Iris Elementary School to provide mentorship and educational support for young students. Through this initiative, we offer guidance, resources, and encouragement to help students develop academic confidence and achieve success.
By fostering meaningful relationships and creating a strong foundation for learning, we aim to inspire the next generation of leaders in our community.

Civic Engagement
We lead voter registration initiatives to empower our community and increase participation in the electoral process. By promoting civic awareness and engagement, we strive to ensure that every voice is heard and every vote counts.
